Welcome to the Southeastern Chapter of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. If you are new to our organization, let me be the first to welcome you! We are an extremely active chapter in the society covering 8 states. I am from Kentucky and have been active on the state, chapter, and national levels for many years. I am also currently serving as the SNMMI-TS Secretary and look to continue to serve in other roles in the future.

I recently attended the Mid-Winter meeting in Orlando, and as usual, it was a success. How exciting that the FDA approval for Lutathera came through while we were gathered there for the meeting. It was definitely a hot topic during the conference and as we wait for CMS to give us funding details we certainly have something to be excited about. The field of Nuclear Medicine is always growing and expanding! We are currently seeing states add on CT licensing and now we are looking ahead to MRI as well. The field of multi-modality imaging is constantly growing and changing.

I personally would like to reach out to each and every state in our chapter and ask if there is anything I can do for you. I am trying to become familiar with each state’s issues and would love to hear from you if you need help with any issue at all. I am trying to visit several states over the course of the upcoming year just to reach out and see where I can be of help. Duane Hollier (President-Elect) and I are hoping to provide talks on how you, as individuals, can become involved in your chapter as well as on the national level. We are also planning on providing an advocacy update so you can be more familiar with what the SNMMI does for you, and how you can become involved as well. We are always looking for new people and new ideas in order to continue to make progress in our field.

If you already know you want to get in on the action, let me encourage you to apply to the Leadership Academy. Applications are accepted during the summer, with the course occurring during the mid-winter meeting in January. Both technologists and students are accepted, so please apply! This is a great way for you to get involved.

Please accept my invitation to the SEC meeting to be held Oct 5-7, 2018 in Myrtle Beach, SC. This will be held at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center. What a great place to bring your family and see what we have to offer. I hope to see you there!
