Home / Advocacy / SNMMI Health Policy & Regulatory Affairs (HPRA) – Theranostics Report Language Updates

SNMMI was successful in getting legislative report language in the FY26 Labor, Health and Human Services (L-HHS) Senate funding bill that:
“encourages the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Cancer Institute (NCI) to support research that utilizes and promotes theranostics, where appropriate, to provide early, accurate, and effective cancer diagnosis and treatment.”

SNMMI was also successful in maintaining the neuroendocrine tumor report language in the FY26 Senate Appropriations Defense bill.

NETs was added to the list of allowable research areas in the Peer-Reviewed Cancer Research Program. The Committee recommended $130 million for this cancer research program, which includes many types of cancer, including NETS.

The House still needs to pass these bills.
