On July 16 NRC held a stakeholders’ meeting on the Administration’s recent Executive Order that directs the NRC to reconsider their radiation framework, specifically it’s use of the linear no threshold (LNT) model and its use of the radiation principle that aims to keep radiation exposures “as low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA).
After the stakeholders meeting the NRC requested public input on the Executive Order
SNMMI submitted a letter explaining that the society is in the process of analyzing the Executive Order and will release a position in the near future.
The Government Relations Committee and the MIRD Committee will meet to discuss the issue and make recommendations to the Board.
The timeline for the Executive Order is 18 months.
